Addendum to "Getting Our Feet Wet"

Day 1) After leaving very late due to our bike's misadventure in reaching us we were still hoping to make our way to the planned campsite.  Despite that it stays light until 10:30 round these parts, at around 10:00 we were dead tired from the pouring rain and gravel roads.  We reached a picnic area and, hoping that no rangers would stop in, set up a tarp next to the bathroom and passed out for the evening.

Day 2) We met our first divide riders!  They were an older couple on Surly Trolls riding who started in Jasper Canada.  They were planning to take about twice as long as we are and after leap frogging with them a few times we left them.  The next bunch of the ride consisted of super muddy, super sweet slip and slide downhill for about 15 miles.  The day turned out nicely and we were able to dry off from the descent over the next few hours with sunny skies and beautiful views.

Day 3) After getting lost in Sparwood trying to find the grocery store we started on our way for the day.  Most of today's ride was on pavement but after the 45ish miles we turned back to dirt.  We climbed a pass and as described in the map "Expect to get wet" we rode down and through multiple rivers.  By the time we reached the bottom we had given up hoping to keep anything including riding shoes dry.  We had a tasty dinner at the Horsepacker Creek Outfitters, a really cool horse/hunting camp with a hot tub that was locked shut that we were dying to use.  We made it to a free cabin a few miles later, split some wood for the stove and passed out.

Day 4) Today we climbed... a lot.  Two passes in one day was pretty brutal.  Especially as the second one's last mile or so was covered in snow to trudge through.  Part of the second past was singletrack!  We were super excited for some true mountain biking until we discovered that it was mostly 45% grade hike a bike. At the top we had a snack, got dressed and promptly descended 3000 feet into the US.  We crossed the border and had an awesome sunset to welcome us home.  We then found camping in the park and called it a night.
